St. Peter's strongly supports Fairtrade, and Di Bowen and her team run a stall selling Traidcraft goods, in the Church, on the 1st and 3rd Sundays of the month, coinciding with the 10 am service.
Di has a supply of catalogues from which you may make orders at any time, just phone her on 737142 to request one or place orders.
Traidcraft products (including craft items) are also sold at the village markets held in Hook Norton Memorial Hall and Swerford Village Hall.
The Font Cafe serves Fairtrade products.
Why Fairtrade?
The Fairtrade Mark guarantees:
- A fair price which covers the cost of sustainable production;
- An extra premium to invest in community projects;
- Defined standards for the health, and social and economic welfare, of producers;
- Defined standards for the protection of the environment;
- Faitrade certified food, beverages and now cotton.
Why Traidcraft?
Traidcraft is the UK's leading fair trade organisation, fighting poverty through trade
Established in 1979 as a Christian response to poverty, it combines a trading company and a development charity.
Their vision is a world freed from the scandal of poverty, where trade is just, and people and communities can flourish.
Traidcraft goes the extra mile:
- "We choose to work with poor and small-scale producer groups";
- "We work in partnership with our producers, committing to long-term relationships and engaging in regular contact";
- "We invest in the development of producers to help them build professional, sustainable businesses";
- "We offer the widest range of fair trade products in the UK";
- "We pioneer innovations in fair trade";
- "We lobby governments to advance the cause of trade justice";
- "We help tackle issues faced by people who are disadvantaged by unfair trade agreements";
- "We seek to demonstrate ethical business practices and challenges others to do the same."
